Breakfasts

For over ten years, women giving birth in Crown Heights have received an elaborate, tasty, and nutritious meal every morning in aesthetic and beautiful packaging, along with treats and surprises. One breakfast is never the same as another. Meals arrive all weekdays, even on Fridays and Erev Yom Tov!

 

New mothers do not need to get dressed, get up and open the door. The driver puts the package at her front door and texts the new mother that the delivery has arrived. Many mothers testify that the breakfast the breakfast they received suffices for lunch as well! “I wait all night for breakfast, and that keeps me going all day,” one mother said. “I don’t want these weeks to end,” sighed another. “It was worth giving birth just for these meals,” joked a third.

 

Understanding the vital need for a nutritious meal that allows the mother to gain strength for the entire day; in Crown Heights, the mother receives breakfast for two weeks! Some of the meals are cooked by incredible volunteer women. However, on stressful days such as Erev Shabbos and Yom Tov, when it is difficult to get volunteers, the organization buys special meals from the best restaurants. Shifra and Puah provides new mothers with breakfast at any price! In addition, the organization bears the costs of the disposable packaging, which amount to tens of thousands of dollars per year.
